Genesis 4:1-7 KJV
And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and
said, I have gotten a man from the Lord. 2. And she again
bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was
a tiller of the ground. 3. And in process of time it came to
pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto
the Lord. 4. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of
his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel
and to his offering: 5. But unto Cain and to his offering he
had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
6. And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why
is thy countenance fallen? 7. If thou doest well, shalt thou
not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door.
And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
On this day, we pause to celebrate and honor a very special group of people—our fathers. Father’s Day is more than a date on the calendar; it’s a reminder of the strength, sacrifice, and guidance that fathers bring into our lives. A good father is more than just a provider—he is a protector, a teacher, a counselor, and a role model. The Bible says in Proverbs 20:7, “The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.” This means that when a father leads with honesty and godly character, his children inherit more than material things—they inherit a legacy. We also remember that not all fathers are biological. Some step in as mentors, uncles, grandfathers, and spiritual fathers—offering love, wisdom, and encouragement. To all the fathers here today: thank you. Thank you for your prayers, your sacrifices, your guidance, and your love. You may not always hear it, but your presence makes a difference. You are valued, honored, and deeply appreciated. And to those who may find today difficult—for those who have lost fathers or who never knew one—may the peace of God surround you, and may you be reminded that you have a Heavenly Father who never leaves nor fails. Happy Father’s Day, and may God bless all our fathers, today and always.
